In this part I write about Water. Rat zodiac belongs to Yang Water element. Metal element in the circle of elements is just behind Water, means that Metal is ‘giving birth’ to Water and Metal is supporting, making it stronger. All water activities can increase your daily performance, such as practice some kind of sport or dance, discover new art activity or write a journal. Don’t forget to drink a lot of water to keep you fresh all day.
Water activity is to meet people, to travel. Water is dual element. It’s creating the need to gather with your friends, form groups and create new common experiences. On the other hand, water helps you to dive deep in your own subconscious, helping to feel your emotions stronger. To deal with so many exterior and interior experiences, I suggest to write.
TIP No.1 I am big fan of journaling for many reasons. Daily journal ritual is giving you the freedom to write all the shit out of your head. Nobody has to read it, even you. The first purpose is to empty the head and soul, giving space for new thoughts. We use the bathroom couple of times per day and we need to relief our mind also, and journaling is great way to do it. This is not only a mental exercise.
Pay attention to involve all your body, all your sense. On the physical level when we are writing, we are using our fingers and this little motion is creating rhythm, firm sensations helping release tension. The smell of the journal, the sound of the pen or pencil touching the paper, the flow of the ink is all part of the experience. Simple and affective. We can create epic rituals if we use quality materials, pretty booklet with soft paper, comfortable pen which inks the paper in the way we like it. You can craft your little altar dedicated for writing, find a peaceful corner with a comfortable seat. Surround yourself with little treasures, photos you love.
Keep it simple and neat, ready to sit down any given moment for couple of minutes. Regular journaling will keep your thoughts organised, hence gain clarity and helping rise your creativity. All these in the end will reduce stress.
Rat zodiac represents Yang Water which is like the ocean, deep and you don’t see the bottom, it’s full of hidden emotions. It’s representing our subconscious level. This year we have to work on our collective and private sublime parts and writing is one the most accessible, cheap and effective tool.
To handle emotions are difficult for every person. Since we are children we are conditioned to hide and suppress – especially negative- feelings. Writing is great way to transform our communication level, to give voice to our inner child and long forgot pain. This year we have face our fears and sorrow because the universal energies are supporting this naturally. We connect with ourselves with less effort, less resistance and we have to benefit this. Also, because I mentioned its dual nature, a little Yin Water is coming to picture. Helping to day dream, to be more soft and can distract us from the main path. We may be attracted to different new subjects, people than soon we got bored and moving on.
2020 is the beginning a new decade and a new era, so we should start with a collective mind cleaning. The other powerful cleaning and calming activity is meditation. There is many way to do meditation.
Basically, if I want to make it simple there is two kind of meditation: one is to calm down the thoughts and the other is visual meditation, to fill up our mind with positive and healing thoughts. Both of them are crucial.
The first type of meditation is the one which help you to put back your ego, to listen to the present moment, to listen your body, your breath the noises around you. In this meditation, one is just observing his own thoughts, feelings without engagement. It’s important because this helps to give a break to the mind, which is normally creating thousands of thought in every minute. With calming meditation, the body has the chance to recalibrate itself to get back to its center. The mind is empty, feelings are calming down, we are in the present moment, creating clean space within. You are lifting your energies.
The other type of meditation is the visualisation, where we have certain picture in our mind. This can be the ideal future, something we want create, or we can travel to our safe temple to find answer, heal ourself etc. Here we concentrate our energy for one purpose and crafting our new present. Often these mediation melting into one, but not necessarily. The first is cleaning and creating space, the second is fulfilling with new energy.
Meditation can be done even with open eyes and walking or doing some activities, the main point is to be present for some time, be aware of our body and empty our head.
Yes, it’s that simple and can be complicated, limit is the sky. Meditation state can be reached with practicing martial arts, dancing, creating art or just doing silent housework. Whatever you do, your attention is on your present body, on your breath and your are listening not with your head, but with the center of the body.
My active meditation is dancing tango, because my head became empty, I’m listening the music and the rhythm, following the flow of the dance floor. Im paying attention to my posture, to the space between me and my partner. After long hours of physical exercise I am more full filled and energised than before. That is the magic of active meditation. Children are in this state when you see them playing silently, concentrating on something naturally. Small wonder why they have so much energy!
Personally, at this state of my life (be a mom of 2 kids under age of 5, no tango for years) meditation is crucial, helping keep my mood up, to have quality sleep when I have 7 hours of sleeping with 3-4 breaks. I listen guided meditation when I go to sleep and the main difference is that when I wake up in the middle of the night, I can stay in a calm and easy state, my mind doesn’t switch on to bother me. Before, I was so awake that it took me hours to fall back asleep (and when I did, one kid woke me up again – merci Murphy) I used to meditate on the morning before I got my special alarm clock singing ‘Mama’ loud and sweet, so I incorporated into my evening routine. I encourage everybody to keep a journal at hand and write every day a little. Also, meditation is a great habit. I’m sure I’ll come to these topic more often.
